A 25-year-old outfielder must now prove himself in Triple-A.

Indeed, after several years in the major leagues, the Braves have demoted Jarred Kelenic.

"I think it will benefit Jared to return and play, get regular at-bats, and Eddie can join us to handle some left-handed pinch-hitting," manager Brian Snitker said. "He's experienced that role before and succeeded at it. So it's valuable to have a seasoned player like that."

In 514 plate appearances across 154 games, Kelenic has a slash line of .222/.279/.381 — he will now head to the minor leagues to work on regaining his form.

To fill the open roster spot, Atlanta signed outfielder Eddie Rosario to a Major League contract.

“Eddie's a veteran presence, and we'll give Eli White some opportunities," Snitker said. “So it makes sense for Jared to go back, play regularly, and get at-bats. Eddie can step in for left-handed pinch-hitting duties, where he's proven successful before. It's an advantage to have that experience."

Kelenic’s future in the major leagues remains uncertain.

“He just needs consistent playing time," Snitker said. “Jared has options, so he can return to the minors and play. We'll likely position him across all outfield spots for regular at-bats. That should help him improve."

The Braves stand at 13-15, placing them third in the competitive NL East.
