Mohamed Salah and Arne Slot formed a secret agreement that guided Liverpool to the Premier League title and earned Salah the Player of the Year award.

The season started with Anfield enveloped in uncertainty, particularly regarding whether Salah would renew his contract and how Slot would manage the pressure of succeeding Jurgen Klopp.

However, Salah disclosed that he was confident he could lead the Dutch manager to Premier League victory in return for a commitment from the new coach.

Slot honored his promise, and so did Liverpool's Egyptian star, as Salah explained through a series of candid discussions: "I was very honest."

"I told him: 'With me, you are going to win the Premier League, but I need to feel truly comfortable with our playing style.'"

"He was very honest with me; we had several open conversations, and he said: 'OK, I will bring out the best in you. I will place you in a position where you feel at ease, but I need you to deliver the results.'"

Salah, recently named the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year for the third time, certainly delivered those results.

In a season that culminated in a commanding title win, he set a new Premier League record for a 38-game season with 28 goals and 18 assists.

He requires just two more goal involvements in the final match against Crystal Palace to surpass the joint record of 47, held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole from a 42-match season.

Additionally, Salah has committed to at least two more seasons at Liverpool after signing a new deal worth nearly £400,000 per week, though he admits his main preseason concern was whether the club would offer terms that would convince him to stay.

Part of his hesitation stemmed from the fact that owners Fenway Sports Group have historically been cautious with contracts for older players.

He explained: "There is always a time, either now or later, when it might happen (me leaving), but I love this club."

"I always wanted to stay, but I know my value and was waiting for the club to reach a point where both sides would be satisfied, which is why the contract negotiations took so long."

"Based on the club's history, since they have treated players aged 30 or 31 differently, I wasn't entirely sure in my mind that I would stay 100 percent."

Salah, who has matched Thierry Henry's record of three FWA awards, is thrilled with how everything has unfolded for him and for the former Feyenoord manager.

His satisfaction stems not only from his personal achievements in what he describes as a "crazy season, a crazy year," but also from the mutual respect he has built with Slot.
