Scott McTominay has demonstrated that life after Manchester United remains vibrant, capping his debut season at Napoli with a Serie A title and the league's MVP award.

The Scottish midfielder delivered an outstanding first year in Italy, scoring the decisive opening goal in Napoli's 2-0 victory over Cagliari on Friday, securing the Serie A championship by just one point ahead of Inter Milan.

McTominay fell to the pitch in tears at the match's end, overwhelmed by emotion.

"The dedication from every player in this team is extraordinary. The fans deserve this victory, as they've supported us from the start. For me, joining Napoli and experiencing this is a dream realized," McTominay told DAZN.

In Naples, supporters affectionately call him "McFratm," a fun blend of his name and the Neapolitan word for "my brother."

"I understand Italian well enough, but speaking it needs more confidence and is challenging. It's simpler with those who don't speak English. I feel tremendous affection here," McTominay said, noting he recently learned the words "festeggiamo, andiamo," meaning "let's go celebrate."

After a 22-year tenure at Manchester United, the 28-year-old transferred to Napoli for £25 million ($34 million) last summer, where he scored 12 goals in Serie A and was named the league's player of the season immediately after Friday's final match.

Napoli coach Antonio Conte, speaking earlier this month, praised McTominay's growth, highlighting his enhanced maturity and influence since leaving Manchester United.
